The Light at The End of The Tunnel

For months I drive a pitch-black tunnel, my eyes growing weary,
My fuel is nearly empty,
If I will return home has become a hopeless query.

For months I’ve been so lonesome, isolated, and afraid,
In a tunnel seeming never-ending,
From light, love, and dreams, it’s left me strayed.

My smile has been covered, but underneath erased,
As I ponder collisions apart from my dim road,
And long to hold my passenger, who has been displaced.

Suddenly I see a glimpse that feels quite unreal,
A beam of sun peers through my burrow, lighting up my face,
As I drive closer in exultation, its warmth I can feel,
I am still in this tunnel, but I can now begin to heal.
